As a subconsultant and subcontractor to Connect Consulting, Globaltech assisted with the turnkey installation of Wells Nos. 19, 20, and 21 that serve the Marco Island Reverse Osmosis Plant. Connect Consulting designed and drilled the wells. Globaltech was responsible for the design, permitting and installation of the raw water main, well pumps, and wellheads for the new Floridan Aquifer wells.
Three new Florida Aquifer wells were installed along a county road adjacent to a mangrove area in Marco Island. Globaltech was responsible for the civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering for the well vaults, surface piping, water main, electric systems, panel platforms, and asphalt restoration for the project. Globaltech permitted the project through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, City of Marco Island Building Department, and the City of Marco Development Services Department.
Each new well produces approximately 550 gpm and was connected to a new 10-inch diameter PVC raw water main. The design consisted of hydraulic modeling of the raw water transmission system, well pump sizing, and pipeline sizing. The well design includes elevated platforms to raise the control panels above the 100 year flood elevation. The well vaults were designed to be shallower than the existing well vaults, so that they would not require confined space entry permits.
