Globaltech, Inc. provided design-build services to make improvements to four existing reverse osmosis (RO) skids at Palm Beach County Water Treatment Plant (WTP) No. 11.
The project included pre-design, final design, health department permitting, building permitting, and installation of the energy recovery devices (ERDs) and associated improvements for the four existing RO skids. The addition of ERDs are required due to raw water quality decline in the Floridan Aquifer wells so that the existing RO skid feed pumps can remain viable, enhance RO skid performance and accommodate treatment of the declining wellfield water quality, save energy, and reduce power costs.
The following major items were furnished and installed on each of the four skids:
Since the WTP is a stand-alone plant, the modifications were done sequentially one train at a time as not to interrupt service. From conception to completion, the project took two years, with final completion in August 2013.
