We are pleased to announce the completion of our clarifier replacement project in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Seacoast Utility Authority (SUA)’s secondary clarification process consists of three clarifiers that separate the activated sludge solids from aeration effluent by allowing the solids to settle at the bottom of the tank. The existing clarifier mechanisms were reaching the end of their useful lives and needed to be replaced.
SUA desired for the replacement of the existing clarifier mechanism to be more efficient technology and authorized Globaltech to install new Ovivo spiral-rake-blade-style clarifier mechanisms. Globaltech supplied and installed the new spiral-rake-blade-style clarifier mechanisms as well as the complete drive assemblies for Clarifiers 1 and 3.
Improved Reliability & Reduced Maintenance
As part of the work, Globaltech demolished the existing clarifier mechanisms, scum troughs and the clarifier drives. The existing walkway and platform were removed, refurbished and re-installed. The new clarifier mechanism included two carbon steel rake arms, with spiral rake blade scraper. New full-radius scum troughs with flush valves and new supports were also installed.
In addition to the new mechanism work, a new stainless-steel weir gate was installed in place of the existing RAS weir gate. The new weir gate was constructed to eliminate the operator shaft being in the water flow path to provide unobstructed flow.
