In order to maintain a neutral PH balance and inhibit pipe corrosion, Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department retained Globaltech as a design-build contractor to make a number of chemical improvements at Water Treatment Plant (WTP) 3.

Improvements included designing and constructing a corrosion inhibitor system for the Deep Injection Well (DIW), installing booster pumps to inject sampling water into the DIW, replacing existing CPVC acid piping with Halar piping, and replacing existing acid pumps.

Project Achievements / Benefits

• Globaltech provided and installed a new 4,500-gallon corrosion inhibitor bulk storage tank and chemical metering pump skid.
• After demolishing all existing CPVC acid pumping and equipment, Globaltech provided and installed new Halar piping, valves, back pressure valve, stainless steel flexible couplings, and gauges. One of the most durable pipe materials on the market, Halar is hailed for its resistance to corrosive chemicals.
• Globaltech recoated the concrete floor of the containment area with chemical-resistant coating, preserving its integrity.
• Once all improvements were in place, Globaltech provided startup services to PBCWUD operations staff.
