We are pleased to announce the completion of our high service pump (HSP) improvements project in Coral Springs, Florida. Two high service pumps (HSP) account for a large portion of the HSP system runtime at Coral Springs Improvement District (CSID). Due to age and an increasing demand from the system, there was recently a degradation in performance. The two horizontal split case centrifugal HSPs could no longer provide the required system pressure at their design flow rate. Globaltech provided a design build solution to rebuild the existing pumps in two stages.
Increased Capacity & Improved Operations
HSP 1 and 2 are integral parts of the water distribution system. In order to avoid operational complications, the pumps were replaced in succession with each other. With this method, one of the two pumps were always available for service during the rebuilding process.
The pump rebuild included the following:
- New rating assemblies with new larger impellers for increased capacity
- Sandblasting and machining of sealing faces
- New seals and bearings
- New paint
In addition, the butterfly valves associated with HSP 1 and 2 were no longer capable of fully isolating the pumps from the distribution system. Each pump received two new 10” flanged butterfly valves on the intake and two new 8” valves on the discharge lines.
These improvements will increase capacity and improve daily operations.
