SUA HR WTP Nanofiltration Static Mixer Replacement

As the Design-Build Contractor, Globaltech provided design, engineering, and construction services for the replacement of the Nanofiltration (nano) static mixer at the Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The project included furnishing and installing a new Komax static mixer with an FDA-approved Teflon ETFE interior coating and new PVDF injection quills to ensure reliable and compliant system operation.

Work included site mobilization, confined space setup, dewatering, removal of the existing mixer, installation of the new unit, and system startup with leak testing. The existing mixer was refurbished and returned to the Owner as a spare, and spare PVDF injection quills with 316 stainless steel sleeves were provided.

Engineering services encompassed field verification, preparation of design drawings and specifications, and record documentation. Globaltech served as Engineer of Record (EOR) and managed procurement, submittals, RFIs, and O&M manual preparation.

Construction management included project scheduling, coordination with plant operations, development of a Maintenance of Plant Operations (MOPO) plan, and site restoration. All documentation and closeout records were submitted through the Procore platform per SUA standards.

Project Achievements / Benefits

The project included the design-build replacement of the Nanofiltration (nano) static mixer at the Water Treatment Plant with a new Komax unit featuring an FDA-approved Teflon ETFE coating. Globaltech provided full in-house design, procurement, and construction services, including confined space work, system startup, and coordination with the Owner. The existing mixer was refurbished as a spare, and spare injection quills and sleeves were furnished. All documentation and closeout materials were completed through Procore in accordance with SUA standards.

The improvements enhance the reliability and efficiency of the Nanofiltration system by replacing the aging static mixer with a new, corrosion-resistant Komax unit. The FDA-approved ETFE coating ensures long-term durability and compliance with water quality standards. Refurbishing the existing mixer as a spare provides operational redundancy, while updated installation materials reduce maintenance needs and minimize downtime during future service events.

Globaltech completed the replacement of the Nanofiltration static mixer on schedule with minimal impact to plant operations. The new Komax mixer meets all performance requirements, improving system reliability and extending equipment service life.
