SUA WWTP Headworks Gate Replacement

As the Design-Builder and Consultant, we demolished and replaced five downstream of the headworks screens influent channel aluminum slide gates with new 316 stainless steel motor-operated slide gates. We ran new conduits and conductors with stationary controls to the new gates. We managed all necessary permitting, site coordination, and regulatory compliance and delivered final documentation via Procore for project closeout.

Project Achievements / Benefits
  • The project highlights include completing the mechanical and electrical design under the same roof and using our own mechanical and electrical construction teams to complete the full installation of the five new 316 stainless steel motor-operated slide gates.
  • The Gate Replacement now allows the plant to divert flows and bypass the headworks screens and grit removal system, as the old gates were rotted and frozen in the open position. With the addition of the electric actuators, the operators and plant staff will be able to operate the gates by just turning a simple switch, whereas in the past, it was labor intensive.

  • The project team secured all the required permits and met SUA standards, ensuring compliance. Detailed mechanical, electrical, and civil designs optimized system functionality and safety. Received the certificate of proper installation from the manufacturer. The project was completed on schedule with smooth coordination between the design, permitting, and construction teams, ensuring seamless execution.
