We are happy to announce the completion of our Glades Region Water Storage Tank Improvements project. To better facilitate the disinfection process at the elevated storage tank (EST) in Pahokee, Florida, Palm Beach County Water Utilities desired to replace the existing pressure operated fill valve with an electrically operated modulating fill valve as well as update the automation protocol. Globaltech was hired to provide a design build solution to implement both improvements.
Dynamic Storage Tank Control & Compliance Monitoring
The new fill control valve will allow the tank to fill and drain at adjustable pre-set levels. The valve will now be able to receive a remote signal to close, regardless of system pressures and to return to automatic mode with the closing speed also being adjustable. If desired by plant operators, the valve can be left open and allow the tank to operate as a free surface to keep the distribution system pressurized with the tank elevation.
Globaltech obtained revised permits from the Palm Beach County Health Department to retrofit the control logic of the EST to operate on a free chlorine disinfection protocol rather than a compound chlorine operational protocol. The chlorine dosing logic for this protocol was modified with the tank’s existing programmable logic control system.
